Laws Need Changed

I don't know about you, but I am tired of reading in the newspaper and hearing on TV about criminals murdering others and only getting a few years. I also think they should pay for murdering and tourtureing the victim and I mean more than jail time. We should make an all out effort to change the criminal laws in this country. I am for capital punishment, I don't believe a person has a right to kill another and get away with it.

You see it every day or hear about it, a person commits murder, the victim is either killed before or after they are abused and violated, some are more violent than others. If the crime is not planned but a random act of violence, this is considered 2nd degree. It is punished by imprisonment for life or any term of years. Does this seem fair to you, the victim is dead no matter if planned or if the criminal just felt like it. Every state has its own laws on murder cases and some states does have capital punishment.

Lot of criminals like to plea insanity, or they were depressed, it was self defense or they did not mean to do it. Some get away with this kind of behavior and fool the courts. There were 520,000 people murdered around the globe in the year 2000. Two fifths were young people between the ages of 10 years to 29 years, who were killed by other young people. I just thought I would write this to see what you think of all these killings, seems to me that there are more and more violence on people. What prize does the criminal that goes to jail get, three meals a day, clean uniforms and a hobby if they want.

I also think the lethal injection shots is such an easy way out for criminals. What about the victims that were so brutally treated and some tortured. I can't even imagine how those families feel to know a loved one was treated this way and then murdered. I cry every time I read about a child that has endeavored this kind of treatment and how frightened they were before being murdered. Come on America wake up and lets change some criminal laws and keep these people out of our world. One more thing domestic violence is on the rise, I believe this is because of our economical condition and unemployment.

Margaret I couldn't agree with you more, here in the UK it's the same, sentances are very lenient.
My nephew back in 2000 was back packing in Australia for a year and was due home, he and his friend stayed at a hostel , someone who had a grudge against the owners set the hostel ablaze killing many of the youngsters, my nephew and friend included. The culprit got 2 yrs.

So yes the laws the world over need changing.

Take care.

Youre right Margaret, thanks for bringing it up. Its a very thought provoking post. Man kills man,
human is the worst enemy of another human. Its wrong to say the wild animals are dangerous coz they can be no bigger danger than a human with criminal instincts. Its utter wroth. God made a beautiful world, its we humans who have spoilt
it, that can be a reason why he pushed us out of heaven. God! Its not only your country but every where, every country is suffering the same way. We all need a recheck coz its time to take action against those who are brytal to the hilt.
As Mhatama Gandhi has rightly said, "Be the change you want to see in the world!"

Life isn't worth much any more. Our government thinks its alright to kill babies .. (abortion).. soon it will be alright to kill the old people...(assisted suicide)... It cost too much ... (to raise children)...(to pay for meds and health care for sick)...(to house the prisoners)... Money rules everything...

Until our country turns back to GOD and the BIBLE, there is no hope for anything to change.

Amen Margaret! I totally agree with you on this subject. It is so sad to hear about the little children being abused and killed. These people ought to be tortured as well in my book.

It is so sad the injustice of our criminal system. I agree with the ancient one, this country needs to get back to God and the Bible. Way to much greed in the world of today.

Hi Margaret:)

Excellent post. I fully agree with you except in the case of murders for self defence. All other murderers and killers and torturers should be severely punished including capital punishment.

Murderers should not be allowed to come back to society. If not capital punishment they should be kept in jail till they die.

Many thanks for this thought provoking post.

Have a nice day:)

I so agree with you Margaret. My uncle was murdered and his killer got just two years(sucks).
While we his family got a life sentence of pain. The laws definitely need changing.

Happy Mother's Day Margaret, and this is a very thought-provoking post. Laws do seem to be too lenient and I don't think murderers should be allowed to walk the streets only a few years after they take another's life.

I have thought for a long time now, they need to tighten up on the laws, make them carry out to the full extend.

Now some are going to say, what happens when they find out he/she was innocent and they were put to death. Really just how often does that happen? Not too often.

I also always say, if everyone was in their own homes instead of out drinking and roaming around in their automobiles, they won't be getting into trouble and getting caught in the middle of something.

So often you hear someone was shot at 3:30 in the morning, unless they work nights and was on their way home, what were they doing out?

Our prisons are over flowing, because they don't carry out the sentencing like they should. Plus the ones who do get released and two days later are right back in jail, apparently they weren't rehabilitated now were they? Unless they wanted free room and board, clean clothes, free doctor care and etc.

That one sheriff in AZ has it right, set them up in tents, make them do manual labor, give them bologna sandwiches, and make them wear pink jumpsuits.
