Quotes to light up your life.

This collection of quotations on love, life, happiness and success has been thoughtfully compiled by someone who truly believes in the power of words and how they impact feelings and attitudes. These thoughts have been collected over the years, and have been shared with close friends and loved ones. All the authors are not known, please share these wonderful thoughts with special people so that their true meanings will live on forever.

"A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you today just the way you are."

"There are those who pass like ships in the night. Who meet for a moment, then sail out of sight with never a backwards glance of regret; folks we know briefly then quickly forget. Then there are friends who sail together through quiet waters and stormy weather helping each other through joy and through strife, and they are the kind who give meaning to life."

We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life when all we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiastic about."

"Time is- Too slow for those who Wait; Too swift for those who Fear; Too long for those who Grieve; Too short for those who Rejoice; But for those who love, Time is Eternity."

"You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get others interested in you."

"You can use most any measure when you're speaking of success, You can measure it in a fancy home, expensive car or dress. But the measure of your real success is one you cannot spend. It's the way your child describes you when talking to a friend."

This little book was given to me by a little old man last Friday, at a garage sale. I read it and was impressed at its contents, there are about fifty quotes in all, but I felt like putting some of them on my post for others to enjoy.

"Love is like the five loaves and two fishes. It doesn't start to multiply until you give it away."

"A friend is a present you give yourself."

"May you always find new roads to travel; new horizons to explore; new dreams to call your own."

Dear Margaret, you have a lot of good quotes to post now and later. Sounds like that's a handy little book you got. I don't attend garage sales unless I am actually looking for something. Otherwise I would end up with too much stuff other people are getting rid of.

I like this quote."You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get others interested in you."

Have a good evening, Getting warmer here today, was pouring rain at my Mother's about 20 miles north of us, but not a drop here. It is muggy though and around 80 today.

Granddaughter will be getting home soon from school. She has two more days this week and one next, then she's out for the summer. Will have to find some things to keep her occupied.

Take care,
Love, Patty

Thanks for printing these. They are so inspiring and I, too, love the last one about fishes, but they are all great. I really enjoyed your post today.

Well, Margaret, It goes without saying that I love all your quotes today. I too, am a collector of quotes and things. There are so many to enjoy.
My favorite one today was: "A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future and accepts you today, just the way you are."

We had rainy and cool weather today here in Iowa. But the rest of the week is to get warmer and sunny.

Have a great rest of the week and the week-end.

I really enjoyed the quotes, Margaret. They are all good ones. Sometimes, one really finds a treasure at a garage sale, like your book of quotes. I love garage sales, flea markets, thrift shops. They're fun to browse with a friend, and after we do, we usually end up at Mc'D's for a snack and coffee. Makes for a fun day.

Enjoy the rest of the week!

I just love all of these quotes! I think I will print them off for future use! I like the one that says 'Don't count your life by the number of breaths you take but by the number of times that took your breath away.'

Great post!!!

I like the friends who will go down with the ship with me. I collect and right down in my journal books sayings as well.
"We don't know where we are or where we're going until we understand where we have been."
And this one is my all time fav: Relationships don't cause pain and un-happiness, they bring out the pain and un-happiness that is already in us! And boy do I get that one....thanks for sharing yours with us
=^..^=

Hello Margaret! We always always love your post and this is no exception. We particularly love the very first quote you wrote.

"A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you today just the way you are.

Sometime a friend you believed a 'friend' becomes a different person... Now we know what a real friend means.

Thank you very much for your kind comment on our new blog about James. We didn't expect any visitors so it was a very sweet surprise. :)

Thank you for visiting us again. In answer to your question, no we don't get out of the garden. We have an eight foot high wooden fence around one side, and a conifer hedge (with wire netting behind it) running around the other side. As we can't get out of the garden, this means we can go in and out of our house whenever we wish. When our Beans go out, they bolt the garden gates so no-one can let us out. Mum takes us for walks in our fields every day as well. Do you have the url for our new blog? We changed in March but it has a link to our original blog too so we can use it as archives. The url is:

Also, I am fond of digging up the memories and have made a habit of writing about the past - I write a lot about it on my own blog.

Hope you're having a blessed week,
