Deadline Midnight

What we are watching: Friday, April 8, 2011--Midnight budget deadline approaches. If Congress and the White House cannot reach an agreement by midnight tonight (Friday, April 8, 2011), when the current spending authorization measure expires, parts of the government will close down. That means 800,00 government workers will be furloughed and a range of government services will halt. Congress will force a government shutdown if their plan to reduce our government budget deficit is not reduced for the fiscal year.

My belief in all this choas that is going on in the government, is they are spending too much money out of our country, to name the biggest one is the war. First was the Afghan war and then Bush moved right into Iraq. When a country goes to war with another, who has ever heard of rebuilding their country after you caused all the buildings to crumble. We spend more money on rebuilding these country's, than we do in our own country.

One thing a while back our government stopped unemployment for millions in our country, what are these people going to do to exist. What ever happened to the good thinking people that did run our country, you know the ones that actually cared for us citizens. What is your opinion in this situation.

Let us say a prayer that this does not get out of hand, every problem has some kind of a solution.

NOTE: April 9, 2011. this deadline was averted by Congress. What did they have too loose, just another one of their sully games. What a bunch of children they are and too think our laws are passed by these people. I wonder what other countries thought of this stunt.

USA has given all our advantages to others. All our factory jobs were shipped out of the country. We send money to help other countries. Do we really think we can buy friends? We have become a nation of entitlements. No one wants to work, especially the people we sent to Washington to work for the people. I want them to get along and compromise when necessary to do the right thing for the people who sent them there.

It just makes me so mad that Congress is playing politics right now. It's irritating that none of the crisis affects them. They'll get paid. They get all the benefits and yet they do all this dirty dealing with our lives.

Our government needs all the prayers it can get!

We are so in debt to China we will never get out. I agree with you Margaret. They are like a bunch of children squabbling and fighting. It is not only the federal gov. it is the state governments, too. They have to call special sessions of the legislature here because they can't get anything done in the regular session. Anything to cost tax payers more money.Have a good week.

I keep saying don't give all the people (congress men and etc.) raises, like they haven't given SS members for the past two years and see how fast something happens. Yes, rebuilding needs to be going on right here in our country. It's nice to help others, BUT it's always best to help your own. Who does our government think will help us if we need help. You can bet not one country will come to our aid, their excuse is, they have it too hard as it is. Well when someone keeps taking and taking and not putting back, it doesn't take long to run dry. I didn't realize the government had two shut downs in the 90's and one in the 80's. At least that's what I understood this one news station saying the other night. Well Margaret, I doubt you and I could solve the problems, but I wonder if we could make it much worse. Hang in there. It got really warm here today, up to about 84, now that's just too darn hot so quickly. Tomorrow suppose to cool off again.

I agree, we've spent too much for too long, and now the current President has us involved in another new war.

I tend to view all of these politicians in the same light and it's not a good one.

I try not to get too involved with politics. I don't often agree with all this silliness they go through. My view is just like the Civil war. The North and South are still fighting this war, and the Democrats and the Rebublicans will always be at "war" and never agree.

I left the following comment under your comment back on my blog...

No, war is never over. We are in three of them now. I think it is the corporations who depend upon defense spending who keeps us in war and keeps them on the government payroll. Think about it.
