One Life At A TIme

This is a fictional story, it will carry the full reason why we never know if this will happen to us next. Too many TV reports and also in newspapers and magazine, I am sadden of these shootings. Sometimes a story will makes us realize the lives that are touched by senseless acts of violence, and a lot of times these shooters don't even know the people they shoot..

Josh and Susan had met in college and were now among the working class. Josh loved computers and was glad he was hired, just today, by a large legal firm. Susan has worked for two months for an accounting firm. So they chose this Sunday to go out and about, just because life seemed worth living. They now could look forward to a future together and children, which they both loved.

It was getting late into the evening and they had just come from their favorite movie. Josh walked Susan home and they kissed briefly on her door steps, she turned and waved goodbye.

Susan had just shut the door and she heard gunshots, she rushed back outside and saw Josh lying on the sidewalk. She ran over to him, he was lying on his back, with two bullet wounds in his shirt. The blood was already running out on the pavement, the bullets probably hit a major artery. The neighbor had already called 911, because he was sitting on his door steps and was fortunate that the shooter had not seen him but sad for the man that was shot , because Josh was dead, and Susan was hysterical.

This is a scene that is repeated all over the country and most of the time the shooter gets a way with it. But, Josh' s shooter was caught, thanks to the neighbors discription. Here are two young lives shattered by one senseless act of violence. Susan will grieve for Josh and her one true love. Yes, people go on and try to put their lives back together but things will never be the same. This kind of grief seems to rip your heart out and the pain never goes away.

I had read about another shooting and thought I would comment on it. This has not happened to anyone I know and I hope it has never happened to anyone you know. I also know we should have our gun laws changed but most people have guns to protect their property and their lives.

It's very sad when you hear of stories such as this one. It happens far too often. Good post Margaret, another one that makes you think. Thank you.

There has been much of that going on over here, it's a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time when anything like that happens. It's a sad world we live in , among all the beauty the world has to offer there is always someone out there who have very different ideas.

Hope all is well.
Yvonne.

I think people are becoming more desperate with so many jobs lost and so many things increasing in price, too. Drugs are rampant as well. Great article and so awful that things like that have to happen.

Everytime I hear of a shooting or any other kind of useless killing (and after all, aren't they all useless) I think the same thoughts: the poor people who's lives are torn apart by such a senseless act, those that loved the shooter and the shootee.

Sad incidents like this make me wonder about the Gun possession law .Do people really need arms to protect themselves in a developed nation like US .And also the meaningless violence shown in Tv world around baffles me .

Hello Margaret,

Very heart rending story. A young life with full of hopes and dreams has been scotched out while another young person sits grieving for the terrible loss. Such things should not happen at all. I remember another real life story which happened near my place. A young man was walking on a busy street and someone stabbed him from the back and ran away without realizing it was the wrong person he stabbed. Fortunately, the young man did not die.

Guns should not be easily available and laws should be strict on the illegal possession of arms. The punishment for such heinous crimes should be nothing lesser than gallows.

Best wishes,
Joseph

Any shooting, unless it's used as a form of self defense when all else has failed, is so sad. There will never be a happy ending to any of these shootings. Some people are just plain evil. And there's always going to be some idiot out there selling guns illegally. I doubt that will ever stop either. Everyone wants that almighty dollar. And when I hear an excuse like, they weren't themselves, they were drunk or on drugs or had a really bad childhood. NONE of that is any reason to randomly walk up and shoot someone. And then giving them life in prison, while we all have to feed them and care for them and others trying to lead a good life are starving and have no medical help, is a bunch of bull crap. Ship them all to an island where they have to take care of themselves, grow their own food and really work at staying alive.

God has created beautiful things in the world to enjoy but there are bad people who loves to destroy and get immense happiness killing the innocent people. Its really sad to see and hear about the tragic incidents which takes place all over the world every now and then. I always feel why can't we live peacefully. People who owns the arms illegally needs to be punished severely. Very nice and appropriate post for the present scenario.

Dear Margaret~~ There are far too many shootings and stabbings in the streets these days and it is so sad for the families who lose a loved one. All so senseless, and guns are too easy to get.
Thank you for your comment and I am glad you liked the friendship item as well as the jokes. Take great care my friend, Love Merle.

So sad to hear these kind of stories... Living in Mumbai, a city which has faced numerous terrorist attacks, I can understand the loss that one feels...
God Bless and show the right path to everyone...
Have a good day:)

so many of the senseless, no care attitude deaths in the city near me are attributed to drugs...it's so sad. The two young lives taken away recently in my county were also a result of drugs. Margaret, I will be happy to send you some seeds. I sewed mine directly into the ground last Spring. They are so pretty now. xo

Hi Margaret, just popping back to thank you for commenting on my earthquake post. I was also very interested in what you had to say about the time you were at Lake Michigan. That must have been ever so scary. Sounded like a miniature tsunami effect, not so miniature of course if you are standing in waist high water all of a sudden. That would have been terrifying not knowing what was coming next.

It is very sad and interesting that I'm reading what you wrote, because it goes along with my September column that I just finished up - well, in a small way it does. It talks about slowing down, the anger that is present in this world more and more, and yet that God is still in control. We just never know what will happen - I always say "there but the grace of God, go I".
