Nice Day For A Visit

Me and the folks
Me and my folks relaxing in the yard.

Thought I would post an update on how things are going. Today my mom came home to visit. We sat in the yard, talked and played with the dog. My mom is still in the nursing home, but she is doing better than she was. She still can't speak very well and she doesn't have full use of her right arm, but she can get around with her walker and wheelchair. She called my niece yesterday from the nursing home on her own. Sarah asked her if someone had called for her and she said she had done it herself and even remembered the number.

Mom and Jackson
My Mom with Jackson.

Sarah had asked me a few weeks ago to move in, because she just wanted to have me around and also to help out with chores. Since my brother passed (her dad) and my mom had her stroke she has been kind of lost over here. Being here feels kind of strange without them around. I still haven't fully accepted my brother being gone and neither has Sarah. When we talk about it it's like we're talking about some other family. It's weird how quickly things can change and when they do you feel sort of alien and lost.

But for now my mom is doing great and we are very happy about that. She can come to visit and we can go see her at the nursing home here in town anytime. And now that I'm living here with Sarah and my dad we at least have each other and we can be thankful for the blessings God has given us.

God bless you and your parents. ♥ I loved reading your Mom's blog for the longest time and sharing with her and it's so thoughtful of you to post an update.

My own Mom has Alzheimer's and is finally being treated, after refusing for the past 4 years. My parents are 82 and nearly 87 and so I know about the rough times and there will be more to come, but we treasure the good times, like you do, and are thankful for those sweet blessings.

Thinking of you and your parents and will remember you all in my prayers.

Kindest regards,
Linda

Thanks Doug for the update. So sorry to hear about your Brother and Sarah's Father. I know what you mean when a close family member dies, it seems like it's not your family it's happening to, but someone else. When did your brother pass? My sister passed almost 30 years ago, but some days it seems like yesterday

I had sent Sarah a message on Facebook, like you told me, but never heard anything in reply. I also sent a second message to you, I'm assuming it went, but I was never sure. I'm just grateful you have given us all an update.

Sounds like your Mom is slowly improving as well as can be expected with all she's been through. I hope your Dad's health is doing ell. I know your Mother had told me in an e-mail that he wasn't doing too well, but that was last Winter.

I would send her a thinking of your card, but not sure where to send it, I use to have a P.O. Box address for her, can I still use that?

You and Sarah hang in there. It can be very lonely when you're all alone, but you have each other for company and your Dad.

Again, thanks for the update.

Doug, Thank you so much for the update of your dear mother. I often wonder how she is. It is so good to hear that she has improved and can visit and leave the nursing home some of the time. I'm sure she appreciates all that you and Sarah are doing for her and your father. I think of her often, and I so appreciate the updates you post for all of us blogger friends of Margaret. Tell her I said "Hi" and think of her often.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your comments. Patty, my brother died on Memorial Day of this year. If you all want you can send any letters or cards to:

Margaret Cloud
16871 Highland Ave
Spring Lake, MI 49456

I will take these to my mom so she can read them, or I will read them to her myself. I'm sure she misses blogging and a lot of the other things she used to do so she would love to hear from all of you.

Sadly, my folks will probably never get any better, but for the time being they are still with us and God willing we can enjoy what time we have left.

So thoughtful of you to post the pictures and news of your mom. I have thought of her many times. In fact, I have a book about bottles here on my computer desk and whenever I see it, Margaret comes to my mind. Please tell her hello! We miss her. So sorry for the passing of your brother. GOD's blessings to you and Sarah and to your mom and dad.

Thank you Doug for the update on your parents and I am so sorry about the loss of your brother, Sarah's father. That must have been hard for your Mom. She is sadly missed by her blogging friends. Please give her Love from Merle in Australia. Thank you and take care of yourself, Sarah and your parents. Cheers, Merle.

Doug and Sarah, so sorry about your brother and father. I didn't realize it was so recent. My sister passed on May 28, 1983. Still seems like last year. It takes quite a while to get over a close family members passing.

I will get a card out to your Mother by Monday. Again, so very happy she's improving, but so very sorry for your loss. Patty

It does my heart good to see this. I decided to check in just in case and saw your post and these wonderful photos. Please give your Mom my love and tell her I am always thinking of her. I wasn't sure I could get on line because of Hurricane Sandy, but our electric came back on and here I am. Thank you for the update. I continue to keep your Mom in my prayers, including all of her family.
