Poems to Enjoy

I went to garage sales again today and picked up some picture frames with sayings and I would like to pass them on to you.

And Sweetly Sing; by Marion West

A little bird with feathers brown,
Sat singing on a tree;
The song was very soft and low,
But sweet as it could be.

And all the people passing by
Looked up to see the bird.
That made the sweetest melody
That ever they had heard.

But all the bright eyes looked in vain,
For birdie was so small,
And with the modest, dark-brown coat
He made no show at all.

"Why, Father" little Alice said,
"Where can the birdie be?
If I could sing a song like that
I'd sit where folks could see."

"This birdie is content to sit
Unnoticed by the way,
And sweetly sing his Maker's praise
From dawn till close of day.

"So live, my child, through all your life,
That, be it short or long,
Though others may forget your looks,
They'll not forget your song."

Dear Friend, I Remember You

If I could go back in time, back to yesterday
We'd share secrets once again, and plan each special day
In snow and sun and rainbows, those days of you and me
Lovely times, God blessed, a friendship meant to be
Dear Friend, I live and thank you, for precious memories true
When I remember yesterday, I remember you.

My friends I hope you truly enjoy these as I did. I really cry when I read poems and think of the people that have wrote them for all to enjoy. I have always wanted to write poems but just can not seem to put it together right. I do also enjoy reading other posts with poems. Hope you enjoy a great summer.

How lovely. Both are beautiful. Thanks for sharing. And I'm a huge garage sale fan! I could spend hours sorting thorough other people's junk :-) Enjoy the weekend.

Dear Margaret ~ I loved both poems, thank you.
Glad you liked the butterfly story and the jokes.
I am so very sorry you had a fall, I don't know how many times I have scraped a knee or two. I hope that your neck and back are not hurting too badly. You may need an x ray, but otherwise just
time makes it all better. I am so glad you liked the Good Morning Fwd. Take great care my friend,
Much love, Merle.

Hi Margaret, thanks for calling by again,
That old ruin I wrote about I have known for the past 30 years, I went there last week as I have a friend stopping with me and I wanted to show her some of England's History. My late husband and myself maany years ago climbed to the ruin itself but alas forgot our camera. I always carry my camera with me wherever I go as there is so much beauty and interesting things in this world,
Have a lovely week.

Yvonne.

Hi Margaret,

Flea Market's are fun, aren't they? Some friends and I went on Friday to several, then stopped for coffee and a snack.

Love both poems. Thank you for sharing them. Have a wonderful week.

I don't care to go to Flea Markets or garage sales, never have liked to do so. Not sure why.
Today was our reunion and I am pooped. Only 19 of us showed up and 7 of those were my own family and myself. Our group gets smaller every year. I thought this might be the last year, but they thought we should have it one more time, we'll see.

These two places I visit post poems a lot, that they write.

I like the first poem. Have a great evening.

Beautiful poetry but the one about the bird is my favorite of the two. I love poetry, too, and have tried to write some a few times like you. Another thing I like is garage sales, flea markets, etc. Don't we find great buys at these sales?

Hey Margaret!How have u been!
Thats a beautiful poem and has a great lesson hidded in its folds! Even you can write a poem..just place your favourite words on paper and give them a bit of thinkn..I am sure you'll come up with a great poem:)Try it..
do u know the song "these are a few of my favourite things"...the writer has just poured in his/her favourite thing and turned it into a song..dont remember much but used it sing it when I was in nursery, with my teacher playing the piano...still remember the tune....though the favourite things have changed with time:)Hope to see a poem on your favourite things!

Just found out...it goes like this..
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with string
These are a few of my favourite things!

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and slay bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild gees that fly with the moon en their wings
These are a few of my favourite things!

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eye lashes
Silver white winters that melt into spring
These are a few of my favourite things!

When the dog bites, when the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad, I simply remember
my favourite things!
and then I don't feel so bad!
