When America had an urgent need, these brave ones raised a hand;
No hesitation held them back; they were proud to take a stand.
They left their friends and family; they gave up normal life;
To serve their country and their God, they plowed into the strife.
They fought for freedom and for peace on strange and foreign shores;
Some lost new friends; some lost their lives, in long and brutal wars.
Other veterans answered a call to support the ones who fought;
Their country had requirements for the essential skills they brought.
We salute each and every one of them, the noble and the brave,
The ones still with us here today, and those who rest in a grave.
So here's to our country's hero's, they're a cut above the rest;
Let's give the honor that is due to our country's very best.

This is to honor those that gave their lives, defending what we hold near and dear. They gave their all to put danger far behind us, some made the ultimate sacrifice, we admire and respect them all. GOD BLESS AMERICA

Dear Margaret,
Thank you for posting this wonderful tribute.
Our small town just experienced the great loss of "one of our own" - Sgt. Christopher Rudzinski, killed in Afghanistan on October 16th. The support and respect that our town displayed for Chris and his family is overwhelming and he and his family are fresh in our minds on this Veteran's Day, as is the gratitude for ALL Veterans. ♥
Great post, Margaret!
My bonnet's off to the vets! Especially the one I cook for each day. :)
A wonderful tribute Margaret, we over here have had Remebrance Sunday to remember all who gave the ultimate sacriface in all wars and conflicts past and present.
Have a great day.
Yvonne.
What a wonderful poem Margaret. It is very touching.
God Bless them all!

Amen to that and a big thank you to all the Veterans, young, old, dead and alive.
Brilliant post. You have paid wonderful tribute to those brave and courageous soldiers who have sacrificed their life for the country.
Amen to that and to our brave soldiers in Australia as well.
Hi Margaret:)
This is an excellent tribute to the brave people who fought for their country to preserve freedom and peace in the world. If America did not enter the world war the whole world would would have been in utter chaos and confusion, anarchy and lawlessness would have prevailed. No doubt the American forces did a great service for the world. I am not undermining the mighty efforts of solders of other countries including India who fought and died under the British banner, but American entry into the world war made all the difference in the outcome of the war result. I salute the war veterans of all countries for the sacrifices made by them.
Have a nice day Margaret:)
