The Old Rugged Cross

On a hill far away, stood an old rugged Cross, The emblem of suffering and shame
And I love that old Cross where the dearest and best, for a world of lost sinners was slain
So I'll cherish the old rugged Cross till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged Cross and exchange it some day for a crown
Oh, that old rugged Cross so despised by the world has a wondrous attraction for me
For the dear Lamb of God, left his glory above to bear it to dark Calvary.
In the old rugged Cross, stained with blood so divine, a wondrous beauty I see
For the dear Lamb of God, left his Glory above to pardon and sanctify me.
To the old rugged Cross, I will ever be true, it's shame and reproach gladly bear
Then He'll call me some day to my home far away, where his glory forever I will share.

Very appropriate post, Margaret.

I chose a picture I took 55 years ago of my Patty wearing a red dress. On April Fool's Day, April 1, 1955.

I gave her a diamond engagement ring, and today, April 1, 2010 is my entry for theme day on my Brookville Daily Photo blog.

The Old Rugged Cross was my mother's favorite song. I always think of her when I hear it. I hope you and your family has a wonderful Easter weekend.

I always thought that was the hardest song to sing in church. Happy Easter Margaret. The weather here is absolutely glorious! It's perfect for Sunrise Service, the childrens' egg hunt and the Easter parade.

It's one of my favorite hymns.

I hope you and your family had a most blessed Easter weekend.

We're back from Florida now and we celebrated Easter with my parents and my sister and her family. I hosted (cooked) Easter dinner just one day after returning from our extensive travel. I feel tired.

Kind regards,
Linda
