Merry Christmas

Happy Holidays!

I am wishing all my blog friends a very Merry Christmas, and as we aproach a new year I want to say I hope this last year was good to all of you.

I was surprised when I went on one blog site and they reported that sales people and restaurant staff are not allowed to say Merry Christmas, they have been instructed to say Happy Holiday, this is so not to offend peoples religion. I like to say it, after all this is the only time of the year you can say it, when I buy cards I always go for the Merry Christmas ones.

This season is to commercial, the TV ads start before Thanksgiving is over and so does the music. I use to like to see some Christmas programs on TV, but not any more. I would like to know what you friends think about Christmas season. I do hope you will enjoy Christmas day with friends and family. I have enjoyed coming by your blog sites and reading about different Christmas experiences, love all the pictures, love Margaret. This is my son Doug's tree, he was kind enough to do this for me.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!! It's always great to meet new friends!!
It's very sad that we now have to watch who we say Merry Christmas to. I say it to everyone. If I offend them, then it's their problem. I am excited for the holidays. I am mailing packages today. I hope they make it there on time!!!

Merry Christmas to you, Margaret, and Charles. I hope you have a wonderful holiday. I will spend Christmas with my family and children. I agree with you that it is too commercialized. We are cutting back this year and only buying for my grandson. He is the only child in the family.
I enjoy your blog and also enjoy having you visit with me.

Merry Christmas to you too.

It does depend on the nature of the business whether "Merry Christmas" is allowed or encouraged. Christian business owners go with Merry Christmas whereas secular tend not to unless they are hoping it loosens the purse-st rings of their Christian customers. I wrote two posts and did a poll last year on "Faith and Marketing" on Dec 7, 2007 and Dec 13, 2007.

Merry Christmas to you!!

I don't like the way Christmas is celebrated today. All the parties, all the gets to be too much.

Do you know the way I liked Christmas?

A Christmas play that told of the Christ Child given by the children at the church on the Sunday night before Christmas. A brown paper bag with an orange and candy for each child who came to church that night. So simple..

Then Christmas celebrated by the family with good food and a few presents.

Today, everything is out of hand. My daughter told me that she was expected to participate in five different Christmas parties connected to her work. Then there is the church party. She loves Christmas, but even she said this is just too much.

Thank you fellow bloggers for coming by and hope Christmas is filled with joy for all of you.

HI Margaret,
I so appreciate your prayers for my FIL.
He started chemo today. It will be a long journey.
I try to keep my focus on the real reason for Christmas..Jesus Birthday. Of course we don't know the real date of His Birth and today's society seems to focus on gifts, not the Reason.
Merry Christmas to You.

Merry xmas and seasons greetings! I think it is nice to make all faiths feel welcome during this time of year. Religion is a divider of people, and those who are not christian (the majority of the world are NOT christian) i think feel left out, if that. I have many friends who do not believe in the christian faith and i never ever want them to feel hurt. I think we should all allowed freedom to celebrate as we wish, be it as christians or people who want to celebrate family and friends. I know the meaning behind xmas has changed for many, and those of you who are christians should celebrate by going to church and doing what you do for your faith. but do not condemn others or purposely make others feel unwelcome during this time. it is NOT what christ wanted. the fact that many are angry that they HAVE to tells other "it is MERRY XMAS, not HAPPY HOLIDAYS" goes against the spirit of the holidays, no matter who you are.

Jesus would not have wanted us to make anyone feel unwelcome. treat everyone the way you want to be treated. that is what the spirit of xmas is all about.

I need to vent....Those that don't choose "Merry Christmas" are a small population and it appears to me, in my opinion, that what they think should be considered before our own. Freakin' hog wash I say!! They "choose" to be offended and only they own that. They can make their point and choose not to participate in "Merry Christmas" but why should we put our beliefs and traditions aside to accomodate them to make them happy? To be afraid to say Merry Christmas because it might upset someone?...Well tough cookies people if I feel like saying Merry Christmas and you feel offended then that's your choice and let me celebrate Christmas the way I want too and that's my choice....your not the center of the universe! And besides your out numbered.

Merry Christmas to you! I'll say it over and over again! I agree with you, it has gotten way too comercial. Perhaps we all needed a reality check this year, for the stores seem to think Christmas is all about shopping! Gus and I visited our daughter and went for a walk in the afternoon to watch birds and enjoy nature and each other!
